Instructor Upgrade
Requirements

None
Successful
completion of 16-hour Associate Referee Instructor Course and demonstrate
competence in presenting prepared lesson plans.
Minimum passing grade of 85 on the Referee Entry Test.
Attend a Law change
or interpretation clinic annually;
which may be one presented for Referees.
Complete in-service instructor training as directed by the SDI.
Grade 7 Referee or above for at least 2 years preferred. Attained level of Grade 9 Instructor.
Successful observation in
classroom by State Instructor and successful completion of the 24-hour ITIP
Referee Instructor Course. Minimum passing grade of 85
on the State Referee Entry Test.
Attend a Law change

Complete in-service instructor training as directed by the SDI.
Grade 6 Referee or
above for at least 2 years preferred. Attained the level of
Grade 7 Referee Instructor.
Upgrade

completion of 24-hour Train the Trainer Course and 24-hour Increasing
Instructor Effectiveness Course. Minimum passing grade of 85
on the National Referee Entry Test.

Complete in-service instructor training as directed by the SDI.
Active for 1
year as a grade 5 Instructor. Refereed at the highest
levels of the game. National or International Panel personnel having
held that status for at least 3 years are principal candidates.
Upgrade Requirements
Must have completed Associate,
Referee, State Instructor course work as well as 2 National Instructor Modules
or 1 Module and a Special Project. Appointments made by
the USSF National Program for Referee Development Office, by invitation.
As determined by the
National Program for Referee Development Office.
Course
Pre-Requisite
Active for 1 year as a grade 5
Instructor.
Candidates must have demonstrated a high level of referee skill and a
comprehensive knowledge of the Laws of the Game.
Upgrade Requirements
Must have

available National Instructor Modules and a Special Project. Appointments made by the USSF National Program for Referee
Development Office.
